Tuesday 17th May 10am Venue: Birmingham Chamber of Commerce The Government has now opened a major public consultation on the proposed High Speed Rail link between London and the Midlands. This project will slash rail journey times but will require major investment and upheaval. It is a controversial issue for businesses and individuals alike. Through this event Midlands IED members can join the consultation process, and the Department of Transport will provide a speaker for our diverse group of over 200 senior and experienced practitioners in the fields of planning, regeneration and development.
This is a major opportunity for IED members to be involved directly in the official consultation exercise over the proposals to extend High Speed Rail from London to the Midlands as part of a future national network. The Department of Transport has kindly arranged on behalf of our branch for their high speed rail strategy adviser Jonathan Mitchell to make a presentation in Birmingham, and for a DFT high speed rail team representative to answer questions. This supports the consultation process set out in http://www.highspeedrail.dft.gov.uk
