Welcome to IED North West

The North West Branch covers the regional area of the Government Office North West. Established in 1982, the Branch is the oldest in the Institute's branch network and exists to supplement the activities of the Institute nationally through locally-based events designed to combine the social, professional and educational aspirations of its membership. It also aims to represent members’ interests in the development of economic initiatives in the North West.

The Event will be looking at the impact of obtaining university status in Oldham since 2005. The University Campus Oldham is now a key part of the Council’s regeneration strategy and the Campus has already made a considerable impact on the Borough, putting education at the heart of its renewal plans. The topic areas include: the University Campus contribution to regeneration; an explanation of why and how the Campus was developed; the reason for choosing that particular model and how it was successfully implemented.  The presentations will also include an overview of the journey that followed and how the Campus has gone from strength to strength, far exceeding the original expectations for student numbers.
