In July 2005 Dawn joined the Regeneration & Economic Development Team at Canterbury City Council as Local Economy Manager.  She has recently been promoted to Assistant Head of Economic Development & Tourism and now manages a team of 30 people.

Dawn’s previous role was as Business Support Manager for the Channel Chamber of Commerce in Folkestone, prior to that she managed a thriving building surveying practice in Southeast London and has also run her own business.

The main purpose of her current job is to manage and lead the City Council’s Economic Development and Tourism functions, to a high quality of service to maximise the effectiveness of the Council and its partners to sustain, develop and enhance the economic well being of the local economy for its resident, business and visitor communities and to deputise for Head of Service, as required.

Dawn is chair of the Kent Economic Development Officers group, which represents the twelve local authorities in Kent, and as such has a seat on the Executive Officer Group of the Kent Economic Board.  She is a Chartered Manager and has been a Member of the IED since 2005..

Her knowledge and skills base is extremely varied, gained both in the public and private sector and Dawn is committed to demonstrating the value of economic development in local government and the pursuit of best practice.
