How to do a Local Economic Assessment

The wider consultation on the guidance Rocket Science and Globe Regeneration have developed for the IDeA working with 17 authorities across England has been launched.  The guidance should by now be on the IDeA's Community of Practice site.  IED Members may be interested in having a look given your relationships with economic development, local information and regeneration.

The guidance has been developed to sit alongside the proposed guidance from CLG due in October and consultation will continue on the guidance between now and September. The purpose has been to produce guidance from the local authority perspective so it would be useful to get feedback from stakeholders outside this sector.

If you would like to view the guidance and comment you need to register on the COP.  Going forward this will remain the central information point for updates and revisions so it makes sense for you to join and network. Click on this link and search for Local Economic Assessment and follow the instructions to join www.communities.idea.gov.uk

The final guidance will be launched at an LGA event on the 21st October 2009 (you can register at www.lga.gov.uk/conferences) and there will be a workshop at the IED National Conference in Bournemouth on October 7th & 8th – to book your place go to conference link
